GIS - Geographic Information Systems


NPMS National Pipeline Map GIS is commonly referred to as Geographic Information Systems, Geographical Information Systems, or Geospatial Information Systems. Since GIS mapping and submittal of regulated pipelines is required at a federal and state level we have an in-house GIS Analyst for mapping your company's pipeline systems. OPS is recognized by the Texas Railroad Commission as an approved vendor for submitting pipeline system maps. We can take your existing pipeline geospatial data or go out in the field and generate new geodata.

GIS Mapping - Services Offered


GIS Pipeline Map We create fully attributed geodata maps that conform precisely to NPMS standards. All regulated pipelines must be submitted to NPMS throughout the country. In addition to NPMS GIS submittals we also:

  • Create GIS Shapefiles for Company Records

  • Populate Detailed Google Earth Pipeline Maps for Internal Company Use

  • National Pipeline Mapping System or NPMS GIS Mapping Submissions

  • State (e.g. Texas Railroad Commission) GIS Map Submissions as Required


  • We create GIS maps that conform to each states acceptable criteria and have worked extensively with the TXRRC TPMS submission standards.     GIS Maps - Geospatial Data Conversion & Gathering


    If your company has existing geospatial data from a pipeline survey we can convert it to almost any format and generate the appropriate reports and maps for submittal to the appropriate agencies. If your company does not have accurate or updated GIS on your pipeline system we will arrange for our field staff to locate your pipelines and GPS map your system with extremely high accuracy.

    GIS Analysis of Geospatial Information


    Our GIS Analyst will perform a pipeline class survey, to federal standards, to determine if any of your company's pipelines are state and/or federally regulated. We perform a number of very thorough studies and analysis on your pipeline system to determine any potential regulatory issues that could arise including: GIS Aerial Study

  • Pipeline Residential Proximity Survey

  • High Traffic Business / Public Gathering Survey

  • Proximity to New / Future Development

  • Enviornmentally Sensitive Area (ESA) Map Query
